America's infrastructure is based on oil. All the trucks, planes, trains, ships, that deliver all goods to market run on oil. All automobiles, as well as all the gas stations across America run on oil. All petroleum based products, run on oil. Although alternative fuels most definitely should be developed, in the mean time America must have oil to keep our economy from screeching to a halt. In addition, our national security requires energy independence ASAP, so that we are not transferring all our wealth to foreign countries who do not like us, and who can cripple us by turning off the spigot, disrupting oil transport to us, or arbitrary oil price hikes. These are all reasons why we must be drilling for more oil right now and right here in the U.S.A. ... ASAP. Nancy Pelosi and her cronies stubborn commitment to petty party politics, instead of realistic concern over our national interest, even in the face of 76% of Americans who want off shore drilling now, will end up in bringing America to its knees.

I do not want to be a one-issue voter, but this is an issue I just can't seem to get past. I don't think I could vote for Jesus if He believed that killing babies should be legal.

Andy,

You are, to put it simply, a nincompoop.

John McCain may be the worst candidate for president this country has dug up since George "Segregation Forever" Wallace. From what i've seen so far, McCain stands for poor judgment, immoral values, shameless profiteering and the exploitation of foreign expatriates.

I will explain.

In a recent Time Magazine interview John McCain is quoted as saying "Well when you get right down to brass tacks, The Karate Kid Part III is quite simply the finest entry in the series. Cobra Kai or die i say!"

This is ridiculous. I will not vote for a man who makes a mockery of our culture with drivel like this.

McCain, in his ludicrous statement, ignores a number of basic facts:

In the first two movies, Daniel San fights for respect and his life. In the third movie he simply has no motivation, a clear violation of Freytag's Triangle.

In the third movie, Ralph Macchio just is not believable as a recent high school grad anymore. Dude was almost thirty when they filmed it.

The third movie contains obvious plot loopholes such as Daniel San's bye through to the end of the tournament. In the first movie, Johnny was the champion and he had to fight through. It is simply unbelievable that nobody would complain.

I don't see how one could possibly elect a man with such obvious deficiencies in movie intelligence and taste.

Obama's position is that while the second movie offers an in depth look into the life of Mr Miyagi, the first movie is a timeless classic and one of the greatest films of all time.

THIS is a man i can vote for.

I'm sorry my "brain development did not pan out." Clearly yours is much more advanced which is why you resort to personal insults.

How am I a hypocrite? The First Amendment violation you speak of is the establishment of a specific religious denomination by the federal government. This was done to keep the government from running a state sponsored religion, like the Church of England. This was not done to keep the influence of religion out of the public square.

The Louisiana bill does not establish a specific religion. It allows for multiple viewpoints on the theories of origin to be discussed.

This includes Intelligent Design Theory which the Discovery Institute does indeed promote. So what? Are you really so weak in your Darwinian Evolution Faith that you can't stand for other viewpoints to be discussed and debated?

As far as the National Review article is concerned, am I supposed to change my mind because one columnist from a mostly conservative publication disagrees with me? I don't base my opinion on other opinions, I base it on my convictions.

Indeed this law may very well be a burden on tax payers because of outrageous activist lawsuits brought on by the ACLU. That won't stop me from supporting freedom.

It is the ACLU that is at fault for burdening tax payers not the legislature (and hopefully the Governor) who have cleared the way for freedom of discussion in the class room.
