Thank you Senator McCain for proving my fears wrong…

August 29th, 2008 | by admin |

Ever since the primaries, when I went after John McCain on the right to life issue, I have patiently waited for a sign of his commitment to this cause.  Today my hopes have been rewarded and my fears relieved.

John McCain has picked Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his choice for vice president!  Palin is ardently pro-life and solid on the social issues that matter to so many of us conservatives.  This excellent decision by McCain follows his outstanding answers at Saddleback Church where he clearly stated his belief that life begins at conception, thrilling all of us who have been cautious about his stance on the important issue.

John McCain’s answer was a stark contrast to Barack Obama who proclaimed it was “above his pay grade” to determine when the right to life begins.  If Obama is uncertain as to when life begins, why would he not air on the side of caution by supporting life? Barack Obama has a proven record of being pro-abortion.

I’m getting off track…  I wrote this letter to congratulate and thank John McCain!  I want to let my readers know I’m fully throwing my support behind him, and I’m calling on everyone who cares about the future of our nation, and everyone who cares about protecting life to unite behind this campaign for our future!

I may have differences with McCain on other issues (and make no mistake I’ll continue to bring those issues up at times and keep the pressure on the administration to act in Americas best interests) but the core issues we agree on and the alternative (Barack Obama) is a down right scary proposition for our nation.

I feel as though a motto of St. Augustine is applicable this situation:

Unity, in essentials.
Liberty, in non-essentials.
in all things, Charity.

MCCAIN/PALIN 2008!

I had to make a comment somewhere about this whole story about Palin’s daughter. Ug. Yes, this young lady made a mistake, but it was her mistake, not her parents’ mistake. I do not understand why this is such a big deal. Bristol is keeping the baby, getting married… While I feel for the girl, she is doing this right and I wish the media would leave it alone. I also appreciate the way Obama handled it and threatened to fire anyone in his party who makes this an issue. Everyone is handling this issue right, except the media.

Two months ago, Obama was ahead in the polls, McCain was considering Lieberman as running mate, and Bob Barr was my only alternative. I had crawled into a hole where the media could not reach me. Then I heard that Sarah Palin was selected as McCain’s running mate. I was pulled out of my pit of despair. I can now watch the news and read blogs without breaking things or weeping. Now I’ve got a horse in this race.
