How disgraceful. We’ve reached a new low in America when fans at a baseball game can’t even respect the office of the President of the United States. Seriously, it turns my stomach.
I’m not the biggest fan of everything that George W. Bush has done or failed to do, but I sure as heck respect the man as the leader of our nation. What has he done to deserve this sort of treatment? This behavior is a symptom of a nation with problems. People often like to point to the treatment that Bill Clinton got by conservatives during his last days in office. Bill Clinton broke the law! He lied under oath and he sure as heck didn’t get the kind of scathing treatment that George W. Bush gets.
George W. Bush may go down as one of the greatest leaders of our country because he guided us through the worst attack on our nation since Pearl Harbor. The War on Terror has been so successful that we have not had another attack on our homeland since 9/11. I thank God that we had George W. Bush in office these last eight years and not Al Gore or John Kerry. It’s all about being in the right place at the right time and George W. Bush has strengthened our military, taken the fight to the terrorists that attacked us, and kept America safe.
George W. Bush is also a champion of conservative values. Aside from the War on Terror his biggest hallmark will be his appointment of two strong socially conservative judges to the United States Supreme Court. Time will tell what that means, but Lord willing we’ll see an end to America’s Holocaust which begins by overturning Roe v. Wade. Bush has also led the fight to keep federal funding away from embryonic stem cell research and he’s made protecting traditional marriage a point of emphasis.
I may have some disagreements with the Bush administration but I admire much about what he’s done. I truly believe that some day history books will look back at his presidency as an important and successful one in American history.
America show some class, when you boo our Commander in Chief, you send a powerful message to the enemies of the United States of America during a time of war.
I’m really thinking about it. Boycotting Google. It’s a novel idea. Could I actually use a different search engine? It’s going to require moving my blog to WordPress and switching from Gmail and hosting my videos somewhere other than YouTube. That’s a lot of work, but I’m seriously considering it all. Here’s why:
Google is on board with many of the liberal causes. This includes the dangerous man-made climate change theory which has been linked to a devaluing of human life. Just check out the search engine site right now. How cute, they’ve turned their lights off (altered the color scheme of Google.com) in celebration of “Earth Hour” which is a designated time to turn off your lights to reduce our carbon footprint.
I’ve got three problems with this. 1. By the Enviro-Wackos own reckoning this will not solve the doomsday predictions and the only thing that would actually do anything would require all of humanity to pretty much give up automobiles all together and for most major industry to just shut down. 2. The whole idea that carbon emissions and other man made behaviors have anything to do with global warming or climate change is highly debatable and many scientists have staked their careers on the line by saying it’s all a bunch of hooey. 3. Radical extreme environmentalism has been linked to a disrespect for human life (which makes sense since humans are the bane of planet earth in their mind) and has led some to consider population control methods which include encouraging abortion and euthanasia.
There are plenty of other reasons to rant about Google but I won’t get into all of them now. Let me just say one more thing. Google does very little to help regulate obscenity on the Internet. They need to offer more options to filter out obscene material for kids, in my mind that sort of responsibility comes with the territory of being such a big content enabler. The best example I can come up with is the fact that on the YouTube website there exists what amounts to softcore pornography and it’s right there with easy access for kids. Suffice it to say, I don’t feel Google is very family friendly.
That’s all for now… Just a few thoughts from a culture warrior.
P.S. I’m celebrating “Earth Hour” by turning on every single piece of electronic equipment, every household appliance, and every light bulb in my home.
If this was radio play-by-play it might sound something like this: Clinton attacks Obama, the main-stream media attacks Clinton, Obama defends Reverend Wright and inadvertently exposes his own racial stereotypes.
If you missed it, BarackObama referred to his own grandmother as a “typical white woman” whatever the heck that is supposed to mean. I know a lot of people. I know a lot of white people and I don’t know if I can say what a “typical white person” is. I know white people from poor families and I know white people from rich families. I know white people who are Christians, white people who are Jewish, and white people who are Atheists. I’ve talked to white conservatives, liberals, libertarians, and green party members. You get the point. So, again, I’m not sure what a “typical white person” really is. I bet I’d be in a lot of hot water though if I started making statements about “typical black people” though. I wouldn’t do that however, because I’m not a racist!
Meanwhile John McCain has been visiting our troops abroad, meeting with foreign leaders, making policy statements, and looking like the next president. It’s looking pretty good for John McCain. It’s too bad he’s such a RINO on some issues. *COUGH* The Man-Made Climate Change Lie *COUGH*
Republicans have what looks like a golden opportunity to snag the presidency while the Democrats seem hellbent on self destruction. The only problem will be getting the real conservatives (like me) fired up about voting. I still know a lot of us who are kind of in a funk over the whole election and the poor cast of candidates and it sort of breeds apathy. I wish it weren’t so, but I’ve got to be honest with you.
*BarackObama Update: Apparently the tax records of Senator Obama reveal that he hasn’t exactly been the most charitable person in the world. Giving an average of just 3% of his income to charity over the last seven years. Hey it’s your life, give what you want, but going on a crusade to increase social programs using taxpayer money to pay for charitable causes seems kind of hypocritical when you don’t even do it yourself.
By the way it turns out Senator Obama gave a check to for $27,500 to his church. Maybe it’s just me, but if I was writing a $27,500 check to my church I’d probably want to know what they’re preaching. I’m sure BarackObama had no idea though. It would be dastardly of me to suggest otherwise, right?
I hope everyone who reads this blog has a wonderful holiday weekend. I found this video featuring journalist Lee Strobel which was recorded during the Christmas season, but I think is just as relevant as we approach Easter Sunday. God bless you, and have a great time with family and friends this weekend.
According to John McCain’s daughter, Mike Huckabee won’t be his choice for Vice President. That’s not a big shocker. We’ve known all along that John McCain wasn’t a big social conservative and certainly doesn’t seem to identify with evangelicals. Why would he pick Mike Huckabee for his VP? I mean, it’s not like he’d want to reach out to disenfranchised evangelicals and social conservatives. Heck, that might win him the election. (You’ll have to excuse my sarcasm.)
The other day I ran across an article by William J. Murray and I really enjoyed it. In fact I’m going to recommend you read it too. I think it does a good job of describing the McCain conundrum facing both social and fiscal conservatives. Click here to access the article.
By now everyone is very familiar with the situation surrounding BarackObama, the church that he has attended for the last 20 years, the pastor (Jeremiah Wright) that has presided over that church and who has played an influential role in BarackObama’s life as a mentor.
The media has been buzzing the last several days over this and the quotes by Reverend Wright have been on the talk radio shows, the cable television networks, and even in some newspapers (although they may be buried in the back thanks to a little liberal bias).
The comments by Reverend Wright are disturbing. The hate America first mentality, the support for Louis Farrakhan a racist and antisemitic, the support for anti-American and anti-Israeli governments like Libya and Syria, the racist terminology toward white people and Jews, it’s all shocking to many Americans, myself included.
So Barack Obama chose to respond today with a speech, here is an excerpt that stuck out to me: “Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely – just as I’m sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed.” - BarackObama on his 20 year relationship with controversial pastor Jeremiah Wright.
Sorry Mr. Obama, but that doesn’t cut it! You spent 20 years in this church listening to this pastor spew hatred, racism, anti-Americanism, and to simply shrug it off as a simple disagreement that everyone can relate to in their pastor, priest, or rabbi is insulting.
As someone who is a regular church attendee, I can tell you that I would be out the door looking for a new church in an instant if these kind of hateful ideas was being preached. The many hateful comments from Reverend Wright have nothing to do with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I would hope that anyone who is attending a church is aware of the theological positions of their church and is actively using their brain when it comes to evaluating sermons by their pastor, positions taken by the church. You would assume that everyone who is a member is on the same page. You don’t actively participate in a church family without knowing the message and mission of that body of believers.
Obviously there are going to be some disagreements from time to time within a church body over minor theological positions or methods and programs. One can disagree over whether or not Vacation Bible School should be this week or that, or whether or not the church should start a contemporary worship service. These issues are minor though! If you disagree with the major positions at a church, you find a different church!
The anti-American, racist, views held by Reverend Wright are major positions! How can you draw any other conclusions after hearing these disgusting statements? Barack Obama did not simply get an endorsement from Reverend Wright. No, he has had a 20-year relationship with Reverend Wright. Barack Obama has endorsed Reverend Wright and his views by being a member of his church for the last 20 years! He calls him a mentor, and I don’t know of anyone who has a mentor with whom they fundamentally disagree on major issues like this!
Barack Obama has not distanced himself from this ideology, and I don’t think he can. 20 years at a church is a long time. It would be hard pressed for anyone to believe that after 20 years in a congregation, in a church family, you had no idea about these major positions of hate. Why would you not distance yourself from them by leaving the church unless you at least passively agreed with them. This is simply inexcusable and is painting a different picture of Barack Obama whom many considered to be above this sort of racial division.
*Now, I’ve heard all sorts of people saying things like, “What about the messages of Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, or John Hagee? Don’t they preach hate toward gays? Don’t they blame America? Don’t they preach intolerance?”
Quickly let me debunk this rhetoric. First, I don’t know of any presidential candidates that were members of the congregations where these men have been preaching for the last 20 years. Second, the argument that speaking out against a behavior (homosexuality) has any comparisons to racism is ignorant. Third, there is a distinct difference between hateful speech, and constructive speech. Most of these pastors seem to believe in the goodness of traditional America and its values. They may preach against deviating from these values, but they don’t preach hatred toward America. Reverend Wright’s words are the exact opposite.
