Oooops! RINO Spotting?

Friday, February 29th, 2008

RINO (Republican In Name Only)
-noun
1. The term implies that, despite party affiliation, RINO politicians are not “authentic” Republicans. The label is usually acquired because a politician’s political actions, policies, position on certain issues or voting records are
considered to be at variance with core Republican beliefs.

We Must Condemn The Far Left and the Attacks on Our Troops!

Friday, February 29th, 2008

The far left wing loves to say that our military is comprised of poorly educated, low income, kids who don’t know any better. Just ask John Kerry! We know that none of this is truth. We know that our military is made up of the brightest, finest, and most efficient fighting forces in the world. They’re the bravest of the brave.

There are countless stories about the average soldier and their commitment that display the honor of our men and women who serve. I just happened to find this one today.

In fact we all have personal stories of friends or family who have served or are serving. I have a good friend from college who is going over to Iraq for another tour of duty, despite the fact that his second child is soon to be born and his family is just getting started. Will we ever be able to truly understand their sacrifice? I’m not sure we will.

The least we can do to help support our men and women is to condemn the attacks on them by far left wing bomb throwers. Whether you agree with the strategic details of the war on terror or not, we can all come together and support the individuals who fight for our freedom on a daily basis.

I know there are those who believe that Iraq was not the best theater for the War on Terror. To them I say the following: You’re voice has been heard but please stop belittling our men and women currently engaged in combat. The men and women of our armed forces go to work daily to protect the freedom you enjoy, how dare you attack them!

May God bless our troops and bring them home safely when their mission is complete!

When the Media and Schools Attack: Dumb Parents Raise Dumb Kids Who Grow Up to Be Dumb Parents!

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

The other day I read this article which confirms what most of have already known for a long time: The average American doesn’t know much about history and the foundations of our ever evolving culture. Could this be due to the fact that the origin of our culture is under attack? I believe so.

Now, it’s not easy to pinpoint exactly where the attack is coming from the most. I believe the pop culture communicated via the electronic media (radio, television, the Internet, etc.) is dumbing down our population. The question becomes, is this a concerted effort or just a byproduct of capitalism without morality? I think it’s both.

There are plenty of media executives and corporate players who are content to look the other way as our culture is invaded with overt sexual imagery and irresponsible messages. They shrug their shoulders at rampant gore and extreme inhumane violence that has no sense of a moral compass to it. It’s all about making another buck, and who cares about responsibility.

There are also producers of this content who are of a depraved mind. I believe there are those who are well aware of the culture war, those secular progressives, who believe morality is completely relative and intend on subjecting American children and families to their brand of morality or the lack there of. The idea of universal morality upsets these folks greatly and they are on a passionate and angry mission to destroy any notion of it.

Whether it’s greed, power, rebellion, or hate there are forces at work destroying our original culture (which is based on traditional Judeo-Christian values) and it’s creating a society of uninformed children who grow up to be uninformed adults which raise uninformed children.

How does this change? It can’t be the role of corrupt government to raise children or control parental choices. The government can however hold the media and corporations responsible for what they’re doing to families. I’m a capitalist but I also realize that with great power comes great responsibility and I don’t see very many responsible people running things in the media.

There has to be a system of checks and balances to ensure freedom for both producers and consumers. I’m looking for answers. Are the answers going to come from government incentives? Are the answers going to come from greater FCC regulation? Are the answers going to come from consumers with values making wise choices? I believe the answer to all of those questions is yes!

Another front in the culture war we need to look at is the public school system which has gobs of problems. The schools are also filled with people with agendas. The schools are also way to heavily influenced by the federal government. Let’s face it, aside from perhaps some standards, lots of folks I talk to would like to see the government out of schools all together.

Some clamor for privatization of all schools, but will we be able to keep corporations looking to make a buck, and others with radical agendas contrary to our nation’s founding values from dominating and monopolizing these schools?

I’m all for private schools, as long as their is a choice for parents. The real problem is we have an awful lot of parents who just don’t seem to care to take the time to make responsible choices. It’s time there was more noise made by the general public for parents to get their act together! It’s pretty sad that parents need peer pressure or incentives to do their jobs, but it appears that something has to be done to light a fire under their rear end!

In the end, let us not forget the main purpose of government is to protect the rights of individuals, not to run their lives. If it is to influence at all, it should do so in a manner that is in agreement with the values this nation was founded upon, not upon some radical agenda of secular progressives or greedy corporate executives.

So now that I’ve got you all fired up, what can you do? Encourage friends in your community to make responsible decisions as parents, elect government officials with strong traditional values who will address these issues, research where you’re spending your money and make wise consumer choices so that you’re not aiding forces that are out to attack your family, and for goodness sakes teach your kids some morality, spend some time with them, and turn off the television or throw out the computer if you have to do it to get them outside or reading books!

Just some thoughts from your Culture Warrior buddy Andy.

It’s a Liberal Eat Liberal World

If activities like this continue, it won’t be necessary for me to blog any longer. Heck if I believed Darwin’s theories I might classify this as a case of liberal natural selection.

Another Barack Obama Red Flag

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Barack Hussein Obama received the hearty praise and endorsement of the controversial, antisemitic leader of the Nation of Islam, Louis Farrakhan yesterday.

The puzzle becomes clearer with each new piece revealed about the man who they say is all style but no substance. Apparently there is plenty of substance, and seems more divisive than unifying.
I’m just reporting the stories as I see them. Those of you who are in love with Barack Obama, don’t go after the messenger, go to the source to vent your frustration and seek answers.

That’s all for now. Over and out.

Will the real Barack Obama please stand up?

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

So, I’ve got some funny stuff to report to you on this Sunday afternoon… I was surfing the web, checking the news headlines, and I ran across this comic from last year that I thought might be informative and entertaining. You might share this illustration with your friends who have decided to swoon over Barack Obama without really knowing anything about the man.

I also saw that Ralph Nader is officially running for president! Can you believe it… for like half a nanosecond I thought about voting for old Ralph in protest. Then I remembered that he’s just like Al Gore only 100 years older.

I wonder when/if we’re going to hear about any other third party candidates announcements in the near future… Hmmm…. I don’t know about you, but I’m still looking for a CONSERVATIVE candidate so I can cast my vote on principles!

Thoughts About Mike Huckabee on SNL

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Well, I sat down and watched most of Saturday Night Live for the first time in a long time. I was watching because I was curious what presidential candidate Mike Huckabee was going to do in his appearance. It was funny, clever, and probably beneficial to his future.

Huckabee’s appearance did leave me with a question though. Was this a good move? Voters like myself, who believe we are truly in a culture war with over-sexualized messages in the media and foul language on broadcast television, might hesitate to answer.

I understand what Mike is trying to do by capturing the attention of segments of the population which might not pay much attention to a politician let alone a social conservative. Let’s face it he’s also milking the spotlight for all it’s worth. I don’t blame him, it’s part of the political game.

Here’s the real question: Can you appear on a show like SNL, or in movies, or on a network like MTV and do so without endorsing them?

Don’t get me wrong, I think candidates should reach out to voters from different segments of the population. Just like I think people of faith, with traditional values need to be doing the same thing to others in their communities.

I guess what I’m getting at is this: is Huckabee being careful to be in the world but not of the world? It’s a fine line to walk. Everyone loves to laugh, and SNL had some very entertaining and funny skits. They also had some skits that used foul language, contained blue humor, and were fairly degrading.

I just feel a little uneasy sometimes with Mike Huckabee making all these appearances with powerful people in the media industry which I believe have gone too far in recent years when it comes to responsibly monitoring content to help promote family values rather than tear them down.

I hope I’m just overreacting. It’s entirely possible!

Those are just some thoughts from a fellow culture warrior who enjoys comedy and entertainment as much as anyone else, but is getting sick of the way traditional values are being trashed more and more.
