Environmental Commercials Attack! (Also, why environmentalism is dangerous for America.)

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

This won’t be politically correct of me to say, but when has that ever bothered me before? The “Go Green” crowd, the enviro-wackos, the big green business machine, they’ve got their brainwashing propaganda going in full swing! They’ve got a brand new touchy, feely, sentimental, commercial that is sure to make you want to run outside and hug a tree!

Have you seen it? It’s for a Ford hybrid SUV. It features a little girl lecturing her dad about the type of automobile he drives. She asks him to drop her off a couple of blocks away from her school because all of her friends parents either bicycle or drive hybrid vehicles. The poor little girl is obviously embarrassed by her father’s SUV. Her dad then tells her that the SUV he’s driving is a hybrid. She then says to him, “Dad why haven’t you talked to me about this before!” The little girl then smiles, and the commercial comes to an end. It was such a touching moment that I wanted to puke.

They showed this during the World Series last night and it made me want to go out on my deck and spray all the aerosol cans I could find inside. It made me want to start a leaf fire, a garbage fire, a rubber tire fire, or just some uncontrollable flatulence.

“Andy you’re such an angry young man! Why would you want to react in such a way?”

I’m losing all hope for humanity. How many people have been hoodwinked by Al Gore and his crowd of enviro-loonies? More and more average people are buying into this garbage. The theory of man-made global warming is highly debatable! I mean, humans haven’t been keeping records long enough to ever know what the long term affects of our presence are! Yet the push continues and it’s fueled by a variety of hucksters and quacks. You’ve got the greenies from groups like the Sierra Club, PETA, etc. You’ve also got the secular humanists on board who worship the earth and believe it’s all we’ve got (no heaven, no hell, no afterlife.) You’ve got big corporations on board who are making some big bucks by pushing this crap. You’ve got trendy progressives who only care about how they look (they want to look like they care, and feel good about themselves.)

“Andy, so what! Who cares! Let them have their “cause” even if you think it’s stupid.”

If only it were that easy. Unfortunately this crowd wants to do major changes to the way people live their lives in the name of their “cause.” Let’s take a look at some of the things done in the name of “saving the planet!”

-Time and energy are being wasted on battling real problems that affect life on this planet. (How many babies are aborted each year?)
-The family and human life are shown no respect and in many ways are under attack by those calling for population control.
-We’re dependent on foreign countries (some of which can at least indirectly be linked with terrorism) for our oil supplies when we could be drilling right here in the USA.
-We could also have an alternative energy source in nuclear energy but the environmentalists keep that from happening too, look at France!
-The automobile industry is suffering because of all of the restrictions in place. More and more are being proposed that could cripple the industry.
-The logging industry has suffered and people have lost careers.
-Some say the reason we’re having wildfires like we are now is because of the pressure to NOT clean up brush and undergrowth in our forests, leaving a virtual tinderbox.
-Private property rights are being taken away through eminent domain in the name of the environment.
-Millions of taxpayer dollars are being wasted to promote ethanol production which has not proven an effective alternative to crude oil. (I also can’t forget to mention how this affects affects the cost of food at the grocery store because the cost of corn has gone up.)

Those are just a few examples that come to mind! So don’t tell me that it’s nothing to get upset over, it’s everything to get upset over. It’s money, it’s time and energy, and it’s big government that infringes on the rights of people. This should have everyone very concerned.

“Andy, don’t you often argue that the culture needs to be cleaned up morally, and that the government needs to be involved in that?”

My first call is never for the government to do more, it’s always for parents and families to do more, and for pressure to be put on the forces that propagate the morally destructive agenda. You see, the environmentalist wackos are in some ways tied in with these folks. It’s a philosophy. Heck it’s a religion. Environmentalism, human secularism they go hand in hand and often times work together to destroy the ideas and values that this country was founded on.

The difference between arguing for one and against the other has to do with the fact that I’m a traditionalist. I believe that the traditions and Judeo-Christian values that our country was based on are good and right. I believe in God, and I believe that America was founded out of a desire for freedom to know God and to make Him known.

The Culture War rages on even when you’re not paying attention!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

You know what’s funny? It’s when you inadvertently witness the culture war going on around you. It happens a lot. I mean, I’m not going to lie to you a lot of the stuff that I find to talk about has already been reported on by a media outlet or a watchdog group and I try to gather and research that information and present it to you.

But, that’s not always how it happens. Take last night for instance. I’m sitting down with my wife watching television, and we had been flipping through the channels and eating dinner when we decided to fire up our DVR for the latest episode of Heroes (which is a fantastic show by the way, I highly recommend it!). So we enjoyed the episode of Heroes and as soon as the show on the recorder was finished it reverted back to the channel we had left it on before. A show neither of us had ever heard of was on, called Degrassi and apparently it’s a teenage drama from Canada that has won a bunch of MTV awards. Well my immediate instinct was to flip the channel but the scene that was on at that moment was a scene taking place in this high school setting where two students approached a teacher or a school principle about the school’s decision to hand out condoms to the students. My immediate thought was, “uh-oh I bet we have some propaganda here” and sure enough I was right.

We watched the next fifteen minutes or so of the show as it portrayed two students who were in favor of abstinence as right wing loonies. These two misguided souls got violent with the school for handing out condoms, and stormed into a “sexual education rally” and got in a fight with students and administrators. They even had one of the two “Right Wing Christians” call one of the other students at the rally a homosexual slur. The teachers, and students in favor of handing out condoms were presented as reasonable, sane people, who just wanted to provide education to students while those in support of the traditional view of abstinence until marriage were presented as violent, crazy, and ignorant. It also took pot shots at Christianity by having one “Right Wing Christian” character accuse another student of going to hell because of their sexual activity.

A common misnomer about Christianity is that one bad thing is worse than another bad thing, and that Christians think they’ve done less bad things and so they’re going to heaven while those who have done more bad things are going to hell. Anyone who’s ever taken the time to research anything about the New Testament knows that all people are bad people, and all are destined for hell. In other words people are imperfect and God is perfect. (Hell is separation from God.) So does that mean everyone goes to hell? No, the difference between true Christians and other “pre-Christians” is that they haven’t yet accepted the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross as a way to make up for their imperfection. Real Christians know that they’re not better than anyone else, they’re just forgiven and one would hope they’d want others to experience the same kind of peace and happiness, but I digress.

This television program was very disturbing. I’m not embellishing my description of any of this either. This is how overt the anti-Christian and anti-values propaganda has gotten in our society. This is the kind of material and the message that kids are digesting daily.

So why does this sort of stuff get me all worked up? I’ll give you two reasons. First it paints my beliefs, and a lot of traditional Americans beliefs, as if we’re a bunch of out of date loony tunes, and that just isn’t fair. This is intolerance of a moral viewpoint by a crowd that daily preaches tolerance. Second, could you please quit brainwashing impressionable young minds with your altered sense of morality! If you’re a consenting adult do what you want in your own bedroom, but please don’t push it on our youth, why don’t you leave it up to their parents to discuss these issues with them?

It is very offensive that we have pop culture icons, politicians, people in our schools, and others telling kids it’s “OK to have sex with as many partners as you want.” This is endorsement of a sexual behavior that many find offensive. Many parents simply don’t want their kids to be inundated with this garbage. The smear tactics are in full force against Americans who believe in God (or any external moral order) and the message is clear: your traditional values are not welcome. On behalf of families and traditionalists everywhere, I’m hear to say: Your secular progressive, anti-family, anti-God, irresponsible recreational sex laden values are not welcome!

Now I can complain all I want about this, but it’s not going to do any good unless we do something about it. I hope that I motivate you to take a more active role in your kids lives if you don’t already! It’s up to parents and traditional folks to turn off the TV, speak with your wallet, and get involved in the lives of our youth. We should be doing this anyways, but hopefully this gives you a little extra motivation. That’s the latest on the Culture War front, stay tuned to the same bat-channel at the same bat-time for more information!

Wildfires Gone Wild: Blame the Enviro-Wackos!

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

What is going on with all the wildfires? Every year it seems like there are more and more out of control wildfires. It seems like it has gotten worse in the last decade or two than it ever was before. Maybe that’s not the case though. There are a lot of forest fires that have happened over the years, but for a period of time in the twentieth century it seems like we were able to keep these fires under control a little better. They didn’t seem to be happening as frequently as they have been the last decade or so.

So why is this? Why does it seem like these wildfires are worse than ever (or more frequent than ever?) There are certainly a lot of factors to keep in mind. Population growth, the increasing 24 hour media coverage, and the post 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina sensationalism all play a role. I’m not convinced that these are the only reasons we’re getting the impression that wildfires are increasing. Maybe they are actually increasing in frequency and maybe there is a real reason behind it.

What could it be? Is this man-made carelessness? Yes and no. In some cases, it may in fact be mad-made fires that have started these blazes. However, I’m not so sure that the rapid spread and destructive path of these fires can be linked to man made cause. In fact I believe they’re directly related to a lack of man-made interference.

The earth is a powerful creation, and I really believe that. In fact I think it displays a lot of the characteristics of it’s Creator. A great line from C.S. Lewis in his books the Chronicles of Narnia deals with the subject of God. (Only God is represented by the great lion, Aslan.) A discussion is taking place about God (Aslan) and the question is asked about whether or not He’s safe. The response is a classic quote: “Of course he’s not safe! But he’s good.” I think you see that characteristic in nature sometimes, because the earth is a good place, but it’s certainly not always a very safe place.

While it’s true that the nature isn’t always safe, we can do our part to take care of the earth and make it a better place. One way to do that is to clean up brush in our forests. For years the practice of forest management (which includes cleaning up brush, controlled fires, and even logging) kept wildfires from raging out of control. Unfortunately, as has been the case quite a lot, the environmentalists have come down on the WRONG side of trying to take care of our environment. In an effort to keep the environment “natural” there have been these huge restrictions on the logging industry and basic forest management functions of government. What has this produced? The unbridled fury of nature, which as I mentioned before can be quite dangerous!

It’s a tragedy that enviro-wackos have to come down on the wrong side of the issues. The problem is, they don’t see humans as part of the environment, but only a problem that we need to take out of the environment. It’s that philosophy that keeps us from managing our forrests properly, and it’s that philosophy that has them on their wild loony crusade to rid us all of our automobiles!

So while our thoughts and prayers go out to the individuals affected by these fires throughout southern California, you have to wonder when people are going to take notice that this is all the work of wacky environmentalist groups out of control.

By the way, this isn’t the first time the enviro-wackos have messed with our every day life either. Look at the gas market (we could be drilling in Alaska, off the Pacific Coast, and other places breaking our foreign oil dependence.) Look at the energy crisis in America (we could be building nuclear power plants like France and not only cleaning up our air, but decreasing energy costs tremendously!) What about the automobile industry, which has been thrown all out of whack. These so called do-gooders are screwing up our lives and they are proud of it!

HELP WANTED: A Culture Warrior for President!

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

The Republican party is finding itself in a fight with itself! I’m more and more convinced of this. I know that Ronald Reagan said that the party is a big tent, but there has always been a balance to the party by social conservatives and fiscal conservatives and those that feel strongly about both philosophies. I’m afraid we’re starting to see more and more Republican candidates that want to compromise on all the issues to the point of violating some deeply held principles. It’s easy for me to say this as someone who isn’t elected to office, as someone who isn’t responsible for representing the entire population and I fully understand that politics is after all “the art of compromise” but essential to the art of compromise are the polarizing forces that differ.

We’re seeing a shift across the entire political spectrum. The problem conservatives are facing is that the Republican party as a whole is moving decidedly to the LEFT and the Democrats are also moving decidedly to the LEFT! Creating a right that looks more like the center and forcing traditional Americans like myself out of the party and out of representation all together! What the heck am I talking about? Let me give you some examples. Let me point to some prominent members of the Republican party that are representing the American people.

“Seize the center!” Those are the words of California Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger who in a Financial Times article says he thinks Republicans need to take the lead on issues like Health Care and Education reform. The Governator says he’s heard enough debate on abortion and gay marriage! He doesn’t want to talk about these issues anymore, and thinks Republicans need to move away from them! Meanwhile he willingly signs legislation that is anti-family. Just last week I discovered this story from WorldNetDaily.com and you may be aware of this already but let me brief you on it: the gist of this story is that a new law in California effectively bans in public schools anything that could be conceived as negative toward homosexuality and bisexuality. These restrictions apply to textbook curriculum, teachers, rules & regulations, and perhaps even the opinions of students! The problem is there are already groups saying that common things like the use of the terminology “mom and dad” and “husband and wife” are negative toward homosexuals. This is madness! The new law also allows for boys who feel more like girls to use girls bathrooms and locker rooms and allows girls to use boys facilities as well if they’re suffering from gender identity confusion! Click here to read the full article. Needless to say Governator Schwarzenegger is not a social conservative.

How about Republican presidential front-runner Rudy Gulianni? He proudly proclaims that HE IS THE ONE THAT CAN BEAT HILLARY! He also brags about how he won’t flip flop on issues. Fantastic! He’s a straight shooter! He says conservatives should vote for him because he’s a straight shooter. Wait a minute! Just because he’s a straight shooter doesn’t mean he isn’t aiming in the wrong direction! This guy remains ardently pro-abortion and anti-family. He supports a woman’s right to kill another woman or man (only fetus form) and he has no problem denigrating the traditional family by supporting gay marriage. What does he care about family life for? Isn’t he on his third or fourth wife? Which leads me to my next point, shouldn’t we want politicians of character in office? I’m not saying anyone is perfect, we’ve all made mistakes, but what if we’ve never owned up to them or sought recourse for our actions? Rudy may be great at fighting crime and he might make a good general in the war on terror, but do we really want him setting the moral agenda for the free world? I don’t think he’s qualified for such a role.

So what about John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Fred Thompson? They’ve all been trying to paint themselves as social conservatives but are they? A story in the Associated Press recently points out these interesting tidbits:

—Romney, a Mormon from Massachusetts, once backed abortion rights but has reversed himself on that issue and shifted to the right on others during his presidential run.

—McCain angered social conservatives when he called their leaders “agents of intolerance” in 2000. He hasn’t been a vocal champion of their core issues even though he has a solidly right-flank voting record.

—Thompson has drawn criticism for conflicting statements on abortion in his Senate races, his lobbying work on behalf of an abortion-rights organization and his opposition to a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.

As far as I can tell, the lone socially conservative candidate is former minister and Governor of the state of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee. Despite criticism by some because of comments he’s made on illegal immigration and a sometimes less than stellar record fiscally he remains on the top of my list because he is the one who will fight for the issues that matter most to social conservatives and traditional Americans.

What are the most important issues? Well they’re issues we talk about on the radio program every day: First Amendment rights. The right for people of all faiths including Christians to exercise their faith, voice their beliefs and opinions, and have the ability to worship and assemble peacefully. Some 90% of Americans claim to identify with Christianity, it would be a shame if the rights of Christians were taken away! But that is exactly what is happening as evidenced by our friends at the Alliance Defense Fund each week.

What else is important? I’d say a country that devalues human life, especially defenseless innocent human life is in big big trouble. We’ve got to fight for babies in the womb, we’ve got to fight against euthanasia which is just around the corner mark my words. (Try striking up a conversation with a liberal about population control and you’ll hear some pretty scary things come out of their mouths.)

Other priorities include the health and well being of the traditional family which is under constant attack by Hollywood and the militant homosexual agenda. The War on Terror (one of the great issues of our time) is also tied into these moral issues I’ve been talking about. (If you don’t think that the promoting of sexual promiscuity and homosexual relationships doesn’t inspire the radical Muslims you don’t fully grasp what we’re up against.) Finally how about preserving American tradition? There are efforts underway to destroy our constitution through judicial activism, and to discredit our country as a Christian nation, and to promote World Law over American Law.
We need a candidate willing to take up these fights. We need a candidate who will fight The Culture War. Who’s it going to be?

Chuck Norris says it’s Mike Huckabee. I don’t see many other options do you?

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

Two big subjects we will tackle on Wednesday’s show: St. Cloud State University Professor Al Pakarek will be on the program to discuss the man-made global warming myth with an hour long presentation during the 8:00 a.m. hour and we will have Messianic Jew Rabbi Shmuel Wolkenfeld on the program to talk about the Ann Coulter comments made last week. It ought to be a good one! Don’t forget to tune in 6 to 9 on AM 1450 KNSI in St. Cloud and listen online at www.1450knsi.com !

Star Tribune Columnist calls for more laws focusing on special treatment for gays and lesbians!

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Ah, you’ve got to love claims of discrimination which are really just calls for special treatment!

http://www.startribune.com/562/story/1481688.html

This is not discrimination. You see, the author here seems to be after an endorsement for his sexual behavior. A behavior which most people including our founding fathers don’t believe constitutes a family. A traditional family is defined as between one man and one woman. Nature shows us the same thing. It is impossible for anyone other than a man and a woman to make a child. This is not opinion, this is fact. Therefore based on scientific evidence and based on the traditional Judeo-Christian values on which our nation was founded it’s simply not an issue worth debating. The government has made laws geared around the traditional family because it is the bedrock of our civilization. (In fact the three major religions which make up most of civilization as we know it, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam denounce homosexuality as unnatural.)

Now our Government doesn’t restrict sexual behaviors unless they directly trample on the rights of the innocent. Rape and child molestation are obvious examples of this. Homosexual behavior, adulterous behavior, promiscuous behavior are not illegal because they do not DIRECTLY trample on the rights of the innocent. You may do in your bedroom what you please, that is between you and God. Don’t expect a government founded on Judeo-Christian principles (which consider homosexuality to be a deviant anti-family sexual behavior) to provide special rights though. As far as our history is concerned and as far as most traditional Americans are concerned that’s exactly how it should be.

Now another argument made is, “What about the children that are part of these relationships, don’t they suffer?” I would argue that gay and lesbian partners should not be allowed to adopt. In this case the government would also be endorsing this behavior. These folks should not be allowed to care for a child that was not born to them. It puts a child in an unnatural family environment and immediately affects them during those young and impressionable years. In short, it’s anti-family and it tramples on the children’s rights as individuals.

Believe it or not there are two other hypothetical situations that come to mind in this day and age in which we live. One would be a lesbian couple that has one of the two women go and get pregnant so the two women can raise the child. The other involves a split up between two parents where one or both turn to a homosexual relationship after having had kids. That’s quite the conundrum indeed and several factors should be weighed in my opinion. The government should not condone this and offer special treatment in this case either, but I’m not sure they should step in to the situation. In fact, I’m almost convinced they shouldn’t step into any situation and separate children from their birth parents unless their is evidence that the child’s life is in immediate danger or they are being sexually abused. Otherwise where do you draw the line? But, I digress.

The point of this conversation was that behavior contrary to the traditional family, contrary to the morality on which this country was founded, and contrary to nature does not deserve special treatment or endorsement by the government of Minnesota or the United States of America. End of story.

Why I’m not a multiculturalist, but I enjoy learning about other cultures!

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Attack of the Multiculturalists! It could be the title of a new book! It would be a horror novel, or better yet a mystery! It’s a mystery to me what multiculturalists hope to accomplish with their strange and destructive agenda. Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me clarify what I mean when I’m talking about multiculturalism.

On the surface, the word multi-cultural sounds very good. Multiple cultures. The melting pot. That’s what America is all about. Many of us trace our roots back to the Germans, Italians, Irish, English, etc… And there’s nothing wrong with celebrating the good parts of your heritage and your culture! (No one with a right mind celebrates the ugly parts, for instance when German-Americans celebrate their heritage they don’t celebrate the Nazis.)

(Now I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that one of the sad parts about our American heritage is the reprehensible practice of slavery which existed for years in our nation and around the world. This tragedy has prevented many African-Americans from being able to trace back their roots to various countries in Africa. As disgusting as slavery was, I hope we can take some pride in the fact that we as Americans are one of the first cultures to eliminate slavery and to promote equality of all races.)

Many of us celebrate parts of our heritage going back generations, and we all celebrate our heritage as Americans. It’s also neat to see newer immigrants in America celebrating their heritage! Be it Mexicans, Pakistanis, Nigerians, South Koreans, and so on and so forth. I have friends from countries all over the world. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity in the past to meet international students who come to America to learn English and learn about our culture, and in turn I get to learn about their culture, it’s an educational experience and it can be a lot of fun. This is not what multiculturalists are interested in though.

Multiculturalism is biased against Western culture, and more specifically American culture. The ardent multiculturalist also recognizes and praises all aspects of non-Western culture and puts it on a pedestal. To say it another way: the multiculturalist is anti-American and pro-everything else as a matter of principle. I have a huge problem with this and so do many Americans for a couple of reasons.

First, the celebration of all aspects of these cultures without question is dangerous. How does one celebrate cannibalism? How does one celebrate human sacrifices? How does one celebrate other cultural practices that go against universal human values and American values? Polygamy, incest, self-mutilation, are examples that come to mind. Unfortunately multiculturalists have no problem promoting these things. Instead of this celebration without question we should be learning about the good and bad of various cultures. The problem is that multiculturalists are also relativists. They don’t believe in good or bad, but believe anything and everything is basically good. Except for America that is, which brings me to my second point.

Along with the praise for all aspects of foreign cultures, there is a concerted effort to downplay the importance of the values that America was founded upon. Rather than praising the principles that have made us the greatest nation in all the land, a country of freedom and a shining city on a hill, the multiculturalist prefers to rag on America as an evil empire.

Now I’m not naive, we have a list of negatives from our past including racism, a lack of women’s rights, and our treatment of Native Americans. Despite this we have a lot to be proud of here in America when compared with the other cultures that have ever existed on this planet. Put another way: you can criticize some aspects of our nations history without trashing the principles we were founded on. You can denounce the behavior by some without ripping apart our constitution.

So the complete and utter trashing of America boggles my mind. How many history teachers in our schools are trashing America? I know I heard my share of anti-American rhetoric in college and a lot my classmates were really buying into it. There are other more subtle examples though. How many schools are dropping the celebration of traditional American holidays while adding holidays from foreign cultures. I’m not saying that learning about other holidays is inherently bad, it’s just very strange that at the same time they would eliminate American ones. Does this bother you as much as it does me? Suddenly Ramadan is popping up on the school Calendar, but Christmas Break has long since been replaced by “Winter Break”.

What worries me is this anti-American behavior is spreading. One of the great lines of defense that will be used by a multiculturalist is that “you can’t call me anti-American for questioning things”. This goes back to the fundamental belief in right or wrong. I believe the ideals America were founded upon are right. If you want to question that, go right ahead, but if you come to the conclusion that America is wrong for you, please do us all a favor and pack up your bags, purchase a plane ticket and don’t let the door hit you on the keister on the way out!

In the meantime, those of us who are proud of America and the ideals on which it was founded need to step up to the plate. Speak up at school board meetings, speak up at city council meetings, write letters to your legislators and congressmen. Speak with your actions such as the way you spend money, the people you vote for, the way you teach your children, and the way in which you interact with co-workers and friends.

America is a good country, may God bless the USA.
