I think homosexual behavior is wrong, I also think Senator Larry Craig should step down. (Oops, I’m sorry, was that not "PC" enough for you?)

“There’s nothing wrong with being gay.” How many times have I heard that in the last 24 hours since the Senator Larry Craig story broke? Way too many. I’ve heard it from conservatives and liberals. I’ve heard it from Republicans and Democrats. I’ve heard it from radio hosts, television hosts, newspaper columnists, celebrities, politicians, and more!

I’m here to set the record straight. I think homosexual behavior is wrong. Does that mean I hate gay people? Absolutely not. I hate their homosexual actions though. Just like I hate the actions of adulterers, polygamists, pedophiles, or any other sexually deviant behavior, but I don’t hate the people. It’s interesting to me that no one else is willing to stand up and say it, even if they do feel that way themselves. I suppose it’s just part of the “PC” society in which we live. Well I’m not falling for that trap.

Now from time to time my personal beliefs about what I know to be right and wrong get me boiling, and I have to take a quick breath or two and remember that just because I know something is right or wrong, doesn’t mean everyone else has to feel the same way. This is an issue which cannot be decided by governmental authorities. The state can’t make you believe that homosexual behavior is wrong. Just like they can’t make me believe it’s right.

Whenever I’m in doubt about an issue, I look to the Freedom Pledge I’ve put together. The second part of the pledge says, “To allow people, not government, to make personal decisions that do not directly trample the rights of other individuals.” Simply put, whichever way you feel about it, it’s none of the governments business. Now when folks start pushing that agenda in schools, and pushing that agenda in the work place, now they are trampling on the rights of others who may disagree. That is what is so upsetting to traditional Americans like myself who are offended by this behavior, and then we have it shoved down our throats. Even more offensive is the fact that it is being shoved down the throats of our kids at a young and impressionable age. We can’t do anything about the media, which is clearly on board with “progressive” issues, but we sure shouldn’t have to suffer at the hands of the state endorsing something it shouldn’t be sticking its nose in.

So now that I’ve said all that, let’s get back to Senator Larry Craig. This man should step down immediately. He should do this for a few reasons. First, he broke the law! Second, his values and lifestyle (which he has apparently kept private) do not represent conservative traditional Americans that put the man in office. The guy broke the law of the land. There’s no need to wait for a trial to see how things play out, the man admitted his guilt in court! It’s amazingly cut and dry. He broke the law, He let his constituents down, he’s an embarrassment to the party that stands for traditional values, thank you goodbye! It’s time to step down, seek treatment, and get your family life in order man. Wouldn’t that be the right thing to do?

Stepping down might be the best thing for him to do, but I’m not sure it should be insisted upon. He broke the law?!? How many congressmen do you think have never broken the law? And the fact that his personal lifestyle may not line up with the opinions of some of those who voted for him might be a valid reason for them to not vote for him the next time, but I would imagine that most of the voters chose him on the basis of his political stance rather than on his personal character.

Personal character is everything. What he did was absolutely disgusting. Tell 10 people exactly what this guy did and all 10 will tell you that he did was gross. To sneak away in a mens tiolet area in a city far away from where you live to have casual sex with someone you don’t know. sneaking from your wife, kids, friends and the people who voted you in? Get out of office you filthy, dirty, sneaky man. The above dude named Chris needs to have his head screwed on right.Character is everything. Character is why we trust each other or why we don’t.
