Kids are too obese, but let’s discourage physical activity! Is that an oxymoron, or just the way a "progressive" thinks?
August 30th, 2007 | by admin |Do you ever feel like we try to right too many wrongs and end up causing more wrongs to take place? I think there is a lot of that going on with the way people treat kids these days. We’re either trying to get them all jacked up on different medications, or trying to shove social agendas down their throats in schools. Often times both of those things happen. I read stories like this one, and I want to just pinch myself and hope it’s all just some nightmare. As it is now, sometimes the nightmares aren’t as bad as reality.
First, this story happens in Colorado, which is pretty much a blue state. OK, maybe it’s purple. You can’t tell me it doesn’t have it’s share of liberals and hippies though, and based on what I know about most public education I’ll take a shot in the dark and label these folks as such.
We already have recess being taken away from kids in different places across the nation, we have less emphasis on physical education and more emphasis on diversity, multi-culturalism, tolerance, and sex education. Playground equipment is being taken out because it’s too dangerous and the poor little children might hurt themselves. We’re raising a generation of sissies and pansies that are completely brainwashed with left-wing dogma.
Perhaps, I’m generalizing too much. Every school isn’t like that. Every teacher certainly isn’t like that. Most may not even be like that, but the curriculum and the methods are oh so subtle and it’s important to point them out. A good resource for keeping an eye on the education system is this website I’ve found: www.EdWatch.org
Check it out, and don’t forget about our kids, the most important thing is for parents to be active in their own kids lives, because in the end that is the greatest sphere of influence they have and the government hasn’t taken that away…. yet.

You should write tabloid headlines, because you really know how to mislead with them. Obviously, the school is not trying to discourage physical activity; they are protecting kids from harrassment and being chased against their will. Oh no, protecting kids from harrassment; will these liberals stop at nothing? Now, granted, there are probably some other ways to deal with this issue. The school could just discipline those who are involved in the inappropriate behavior. I’m guessing they’ve tried that, but I could be wrong. Eventually, problems exacerbate to the place where institutions simply shortcut the process by forming a policy. For example, the very conservative Christian college where I taught for the last two years had a cell-phone use policy. Probably 90% of the discipline cases we saw involved cell phone usage violations. This year, students are not allowed to have cell phones on campus. This is not because of some liberal infiltration that wants to rob the students of their freedom. It is because the school officials got sick of having to constantly deal with inappropriate cell phone use.
